CAT | Another deadly disease: CHOLERA

Cholera is one of the deadly diseases that affect the intestines of the human beings and is caused by a bacterium. The disease makes sure that the person suffering from it has watery stools because a very powerful and dangerous toxin gets inside the body of that person. That toxin usually leads to a heavy fluid and electrolyte loss from the body of the patient. It ultimately leads to diarrhea. Also, it is observed that a patient who is not properly treated can lose his weight to such a large extent that can ultimately lead to shock and even death. So, it can be placed in the category of some dangerous deadly diseases.

Cholera is caused due to a VIBRIO bacterium. These bacteria get inside a person’s body via the intake of contaminated water or food. Water can be easily contaminated if the wastes of some individuals, who are infected, get in touch with the water. Drinking water could easily be contaminated at the storage at the source itself, or while transporting it to other places. On the other hand, food can be contaminated by getting in contact with dusty hands while preparing or even during the process of eating. Also, some cases are reported due to eating of undercooked seafood. All this should be avoided in order to stay away from cholera.
